Dirt vs. Grass

There's a circle of dirt in our backyard from where our pool was this summer. We use it now as our stage for ring around the rosie.

Can you tell that he thinks it's awesome?!

Planting grass is overrated.

My Little Artist

Kaiden loves to draw, so we surround him with things that he can draw on!

He doesn't love to clean, but he does like to sweep. He sweeps outside for me, too!
I think he's mad that I got evidence of him "cleaning"...he obviously doesn't want me to think he'll willingly do his chores in the future! lol.

Stickers

Kaiden loves stickers!

He will remove 30 stickers from his sticker book and place them all over his (and my) legs and arms.

He's always coming home from school with a sticker on his face.

The other night he had one on his cheek that I told him we should remove like I do every other night. He was very adamant when he told me "NO!"

I said he could get a rash if he sleeps with it because of the sticky stuff.

He said "ok, I getta rash!"

HA!

So, I let him sleep with it.

Sometimes you just gotta give in to the things they love. =)

Do you see what I see?

Besides the clothes pile-up on the back of the couch and the random baby powder?!? ha!

I see a straw hat that he says is his cowboy hat.

I see a rocket launcher that he wears around his neck, sometimes as a "jacket" and other times to put out fires.

I see a flash drive in his hands that he calls his "computer" and sometimes sleeps with at night.

I see my imaginative, creative, happy child.

He inspires me to think outside the box every day!

Lunch Lady

Have you ever seen the Lunch Lady skit with Chris Farley?
Well, for some reason when Kaiden put on my shower cap, it reminded me of it! The stethoscope and slippers just add to his charm. Don't cha think?
LUNCH LAAAAAADAAAAY!!! He's cute when he says it. =)
In true Lunch Lady fashion, I told Kaiden he should do some cooking for us.
put some ketchup on it!
Here he is bringing me my food...very careful not to drop it!
Lunch Lady is hard work, he's always sure to stop for water breaks!

And he makes sure we do too!

He's my sweet little Lunch Lady!!

Pumpkin Patch 2010

Last weekend we went to the pumpkin patch.

Kaiden enjoyed the wooden vehicles.

He also enjoyed the giant Sponge Bob Squarepants made out of hay and little school bus.

He played on the playground, too.

I think his favorite thing was the BIG slide, though. He went down with Kev first and then wanted to go by himself. This mama was so proud!

After that, we went on the tractor train. He loved that, too!

Next, was a peak at the animals and a snack break. Kev carried him up the hill and I love how he holds on tight to his dada!

While we waited for dada to get some lemonade and popcorn, Kaiden wanted to sit in the big chair!

The pumpkins were near by and Kaiden was ready to pick out his! He was running around looking for the perfect one. He got one big one and three little gourds.

The pumpkins were the end of the patch, but after we paid Kaiden wanted to ride the big slide again. So I headed off to the car while him and Kev took a few more rides.

It was a perfect pumpkin day!

Parent-Teacher Conference

Kev's out of town, so I went to Kaiden's school yesterday for Parent-Teacher Conference.

Let me tell you, I LOVE Parent-Teacher Conference!! I think it's rude to brag about yourself, but I think you should be able to freely brag about your kiddos. When someone else does, well, that's just extra frosting on the cake! And I loooooove frosting! =)

The first thing his teacher, Sarah, said was "Kaiden is like the perfect kid!"

Even though I agree, I laughed and said "He's great, but he has his moments!" lol. No one is perfect, right?!

Sarah said, "really? I never see them." Awww, I love a kid that is great when his parents aren't around!

(just to prove he has moments, here he is pouting last night over two more bites of banana, b/c he just wanted his desert! lol. Mama didn't budge, but I'm learning when he doesn't finish a meal just to leave it out for a bit and he'll usually go back and finish it. He did and then he got a granola bar.=)

Anyways, she said he is so so smart. That he's her little buddy and her and his best friend, Cameron, often "fight" over who's Kaiden he is. "My Kaiden!" "No, my Kaiden!" lol. So cute! When I told Kaiden Sarah told me that, he said "my Sarah!" Awww, he loves his teacher!

She also said that he's still shy and timid, but has come a long way from when he started school. He plays with the other kids, but she can tell he craves one-on-one time. This is so true, he loves connecting with people on an individual basis and really thrives on quality time.

She was saying that she thinks he's ready to move to Jessica's class. She teaches the next class up (2 1/2 to 3 yr. olds). She was saying that he picks up on things so fast and that he was too smart for her class now. She said he knows his numbers and probably knows his ABC's...I was like "huh?" She said when they sing in circle time that he never sings with them. I was literally shocked! I told her he sings all the time and has known his ABC's for a long time. I also told her that he does circle time at home and pretends he's the teacher. She thought that was too cute! I also told her that he recognizes all of his capital letters, knows all the colors and most shapes, too. She was like "wow! he's definitely too smart for my class." ha!

We talked a little more about a bully in class that Kaiden doesn't like, she showed me his art work and pictures she's taken of  him. We agreed that she would start working with him more on eating a good lunch and potty training. All-in-all it was a great meeting! I'm proud of Kaiden and am happy that he's so smart just like his daddy! I definitely think he's ready to move to Jessica's class and am looking forward to it. One, she is there when he's dropped off in the morning, so we'll have more of a connection with her as with Sarah, we rarely see her b/c her hours are 8-5. Two, I think Sarah may baby Kaiden a bit b/c he is so good and sweet. I think Jessica will encourage him to take more chances. Plus, his best friend, Cameron, is in Jessica's class now, too. I know he will love that b/c he talks about Cameron all the time.

I left the school feeling happy, but a little concerned. I don't know why, but the not singing thing really bothered me at first. It's just so not him not to be involved in activities like that. After thinking about it for awhile, I came to a conclusion. My kid is different. He's unique and special. He's not the typical kid that just runs around aimlessly for something to do. Not that there's anything wrong with that and it's fun to boot, but Kaiden is an observer. He likes to watch and think about things. He's a sponge for sure. The fact that he knows the songs they sing and imitates his teacher and plays circle time at home, just proves that he's sitting back and taking it all in. And you know, that's a great trait to have. He's going to be someone that really gets to know people. That takes the time to care and learn about them. He's going to do things b/c he wants to, not b/c you tell him to. He's going to go big places, this one, and I'm so along for the ride! I will support and help him flourish in his own unique ways.

I believe as a parent it is my job to help and encourage him to be the person that he IS, not the person I think he should be. If he doesn't want to sing, then he doesn't sing. If he wants to wear socks in the summer, then he wears socks. If he wants to wait patiently at the playground for his turn even though all the other kids are jumping in front of him, ...well, that's when I step in and tell those crazy kids to back it up a minute and encourage him to go for it! ha! Sometimes you just need to nudge them a bit so they can enjoy themselves. =)

When I asked Kaiden why he doesn't sing in circle time he got a mad face and said "I don't wanna sing!" and that's okay with me.

On another note, since Kevin has been gone this week we've kinda of been having dance parties. We lay down Jo's blanket on the floor in her room as the dance floor and break it down! It's been the highlight of my my day all week. I love my kid and I love that he comes up with these things. Here he is sporting his new pj's before our dance party last night. The thing in his hand is Jo's earpiece to her phone..that's his mic!
