Kiki & Kado

This morning, for the first time ever (not even joking a little bit), I woke up to this little sweet girl snuggling with me! I was so happy!! A little background, shall we??..

She was born on April 9, 2007 in a gutter with her mama, 2 brothers and a sister. Abandoned by her father. They were found and brought to an animal shelter for care. Her mama is a minpin and father is a chihuahua. I spotted her on petfinder.com in my search for a minpin. She was too fricken cute! I HAD to have her, but she wasn't ready to be adopted yet.

The second they gave me the 'okay' to adopt her, I was there! First come first serve for her and her siblings & you better believe Kado and I were the first ones there! :)

When they took me back, they didn't tell me which one was which. Except one of the girls had a bandage on her foot from a recent surgery. They told me not to choose by sex b/c they were all fixed too early to know whether they were girls or boys. Well, I knew the boys immediately! They were biting my toes like no tomorrow!! haha. The little girl with the bandage was just running around too. But the one who was calm (I laugh at this now!) and so so sweet, was my precious little Kiki. She was adorable and I knew she was ours.

She fit in the palm of my hand and grunted like a pig! She was (and is) perfect. She's unique and is the complete opposite of Kado. She walks great on a leash. She gets into her "casa" on demand. She eats when it's time to eat. She sleeps when it's time to sleep. She comes inside when you ask her to and goes out when it's time. She's a great dog. She's nervous and unsure. She barks at everything. She's a bit awkward and unaware of personal space. She's so sweet with Goose and would never harm a soul. She's scared of the dark and needs her big bro to go outside with her before bedtime. She sleeps at the bottom of the bed no matter how hard you try to get her to snuggle. That is, until last night!!! She laid next to me, where Kado usually does, and snuggled like the best of them! It melted my heart. I love her and am so glad she is part of our family. We love you Licious, thanks for snuggling with mama!! I hope I have many more mornings waking up to your sweet, sweet face! XOXO

Ok, and I know this post is long, but I just can't NOT talk about my first baby, Kado. :)
Kado. Born on May 5, 2006. Mine & McDreamy's first baby together. A true minpin. "King of the Toys" - and not afraid to represent! A little background, shall we?..

When the Hubs first mentioned wanting a minpin, I was NOT for it. The pics I saw online were so-not-cute! But he stood behind his choice and I decided to at least go and see a pup. We met at a breeders (I know, I know) house and when she brought him out, I instantly knew!! McDreamy coached me before we got there to act right and not get overly excited..I guess to try and negotiate price or something. But once I saw this sweet face, I couldn't help but melt. I might have even squealed a bit! :) He was the most precious thing I had ever seen (up to that point) and he instantly had me wrapped around his paw. lol. Cash was exchanged and we were off to Petsmart! He slept on our shoulders the whole time. Everyone in the store melted too. I was in love!

I remember my sister saying we had the laziest dog ever b/c all he ever did was sleep as a pup. I remember one night, we hosted game night, and we were playing gestures..we all took turns holding his sleepy butt while the others got up to act out their words! Ha! Good times! And, although he stills like to sleep, he is anything but lazy! He's energetic and wild. He likes to be chased and gets pretty rowdy. He's fast and stubborn! He's aggressive, but shy. He is seriously the best snuggler ever! Even with his stiff, long legs, I can fall asleep in an instant if I lay down and snuggle with him. He love blankets, even in the summer. He gets cold in 70 degree weather. He hates the rain and the snow. He loves to sunbathe. He loves walks, but is horrible on a leash. He likes to run from you when you tell him what to do, except when it's "night night" time. He is sensitive, so sensitive. He does not like to share attention. He's a mama's boy and loves every second of it. He's spoiled and sleeps with his head on our pillow and body under the covers. He's perfect and we love him so, so much! Love ya Nades, ..even when you bite! ha!
